Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Save-A-Lot Limited (Earth City, Missouri), a subsidiary of SUPERVALU Incorporated (NYSE:SVU) (Minneapolis, Minnesota), is ramping up plans to begin construction on a food distribution center in Lexington, North Carolina. Located in the Lexington Business Center, the facility will include refrigerated and dry storage areas in a 325,000-square-foot building.
According to the company, the building will be a state-of-the-art food distribution center, utilizing the latest in "green" technology, including lights that only operate when a person is present and an HVAC system that uses smart thermostats. The Lexington facility will supply Save-A-Lot's 17 stores in North Carolina and the surrounding states.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January and slated for completion by the end of 2011. Ryan Companies (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is providing design-build services to the project.
Save-A-Lot owns 1,200 stores in 39 states.
