Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held poultry processor, Simmons Foods, Incorporated (Siloam Springs, Arkansas) has entered a multi-year contract with Total Control Logistics, Incorporated (Zeeland, Michigan) to operate a new third party distribution center that will be built at the company’s Van Buren, Arkansas poultry processing plant.

Currently foundations are being poured and pre-construction activities are underway at the plant under the direction of general contractor, The Facility Group (Smyrna, Georgia) for a new 102,000 square foot freezer that will act as a central distribution point for the company’s poultry products.

This estimated $4.5 million project is on a fast track construction schedule and building activity is expected be to take about six months to complete. Once completed, Simmons will give the keys to the facility to Total Control Logistics for management and operation and the company expects to hire about 30 to 40 employees to run the center.

Completion and start-up are expected by early November of 2004. Total Logistic Control is a national provider of refrigerated and dry warehousing, transportation, supply chain management, dedicated third-party operations management, food distribution, bottling and packaging and fulfillment services.
