Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Family-owned and operated dairy products producer, Gossner Foods Incorporated (Logan, Utah) has begun renovations at the old J. R. Simplot potato processing plant, located in Heyburn, Idaho, to make way for a new Swiss cheese manufacturing operation.
The company selected Lundahl Building Systems Incorporated (Logan, Utah) as the general contractor for this estimated $20 million project. The contractor is currently on-site performing demolition and site preparation activities for the new structure. The contractor hopes to have the building enclosed by December 2004 and will begin installing the production equipment that is scheduled to arrive in April of 2005. Completion of the project is expected by October 2005. The new plant will create about 40 area jobs.
Gossner Foods plant and headquarters, located in Logan, Utah, has been a family tradition since 1966. The family-owned business takes pride in making high-quality Swiss and Muenster cheeses. They also produce a line of ultra-high temperature milks in a variety of flavors and sizes. The Heyburn operation will be the company's second manufacturing plant.
Simplot will continue to operate its warehouse and truck terminal at the site.
