Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Florida, the "Sunshine State," has 478 megawatts (MW) of solar energy under development in six projects at five locations. Most of the projects are being developed by NextEra Energy Resources and Florida Power and Light, two subsidiaries of FPL Group Incorporated (NYSE:FPL) (Juno Beach, Florida), while another is owned and being developed by juwi solar Incorporated (Boulder, Colorado), a subsidiary of juwi Holdings AG (Worrstadt, Germany).
Florida Power and Light is looking at constructing the 75-MW Babcock Ranch Solar Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. The 12.6-MW Brady Branch Solar Park will be built by juwi solar adjacent to JEA's (Jacksonville, Florida) Brady Branch Power Station in Baldwin, Florida.
These additions could increase the existing renewable energy 30.2% to a total capacity of 1,500 MW.
