Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). SYSCO Minnesota (Saint Paul, Minnesota), a division of SYCSO Corporation (NYSE: SYY) (Houston, Texas), is proceeding with site preparation and building construction activities to expand their Saint Paul, Minnesota food distribution center.
The company selected Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (Saint Paul, Minnesota) as the general contractor for the building project that will add about 36,300 square feet of additional storage at the existing 350,000 square foot distribution center.
Plans are to add an 18,300 square foot freezer that will maintain about 2 degrees F for frozen product storage and an 18,000 square foot dry storage area. The existing office area and shipping and receiving docks will not be affected by the expansion. The 33-foot high ceilings will allow the company to install a seven-layer storage racking system.
SYSCO hopes to have the $1.9 million expansion project completed and operational by March of 2003.
SYSCO Corporation operates 142 locations throughout the United States and portions of Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. SYSCO's product lines are as diverse as the 46,000 employees who support its daily operations. They include not only the ingredients needed to prepare meals, but also numerous ancillary preparation and serving items for the foodservice industry.
