Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is investing $100 million dollars to build a 1.3 million square foot distribution center in Topeka, Kansas. The center will be constructed on 143 acres located at US-75 Highway and Southwest 57th Street.
Ryan Construction (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is performing construction services for the distribution center and construction is expected to start this summer.
In 1962, the first Target store opened in Roseville, Minnesota and was the first retail store to offer well-known national brands at discounted prices. Target Corporation is a growing company focused on general merchandise retailing and is America's fourth largest general merchandise retailer. The company operates nearly 1,400 stores and 22 distribution centers across the country. Target is expected to hire 650 people for the distribution center once the project is completed in Fall 2003.
