Tennessee City to Install 5 Megawatts of Solar Panels

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has given approval to Johnson City, Tennessee, to install approximately 5 megawatts of photovoltaic solar power capacity. The project is part of TVA's General Partners Program. Johnson City's public works director said that the city will have ESA Renewables LLC (Lake Mary, Florida) install up to 27 modules, each with a capacity of 200 kilowatts, on city-owned land and rooftop locations, including fire stations, schools, golf courses, parks, recreation centers and the water treatment plant.

EAS Renewables is an alternative energy supplier that was founded in 2002 and focuses on providing turnkey commercial and industrial photovoltaic projects worldwide. EAS expects to commence the installations in the next week or two. Johnson City and EAS will need the modules to be installed by April 17, 2012, in order to take advantage of all the incentives offered by TVA.
