Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Following the official kickoff of the erection of the main boiler beam for Unit 1 of the Huaneng Daqing cogeneration power plant on March 1, 2012, Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company Limited (TEPC) (Tianjin), the project contractor, officially kicked off the erection of the boiler water cooling wall on April 5.
The erected boiler water cooling wall is for the upper section at the left side, which is 10.5 meters long, 14.6 meters wide and weighs 23 metric tons. The erection was carried out by a 32-metric-ton flat-arm crane. Successful completion of the erection marks that the erection for the boiler heating surface has been officially started.
Huaneng Daqing cogeneration power plant, located in the Jingkai district of Daqing city in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, has a total planned capacity of 1,400 megawatts (MW). Including, two 350-MW supercritical coal-fired units with associated heat supply pipeline works will be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $480 million. The project will be invested and operated by Huaneng Heilongjiang Power Generation Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang), a regional subsidiary of China Huaneng Group (Beijing), the largest power producer in China.
Phase I of the project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in September 2011. According to the approval, the project will be built to replace small units with larger ones. With the construction of the project, 100 MW of smaller, inefficient coal-fired units will be shut down in Heilongjiang, and 500 MW of thermal power projects in Heilongjiang will be postponed, including the 300-MW Shuangyashan coal gangue power project and the 200-MW Hegang Coal Gangue plant Phase II project. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat for an area of 12.1 million square meters, 120 tons per hour of steam to industrial users, and to replace 58 small boilers scattered throughout its service area.
