Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking $9.8 billion in projects in which construction giant Turner Construction Company (New York, New York) has a hand. The projects cover a range of industries, but are mainly in the Industrial Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical-Biotech sectors.

Attachment Click on the image at right for a breakdown by industry of active projects involving Turner Construction.

Among the top projects involving Turner is a range of expansion, renovation and modernization projects at airports across the U.S. Among the largest of these is the renovation of the Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport in Washington, D.C. The $1.2 billion project involves constructing a new North Concourse, and the renovation of 14 gates and three terminals, as well as the construction of a 1,600-space parking garage. Construction began in the first half of 2017 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner also is involved in the construction of several data centers throughout the U.S., including many for Facebook Incorporated (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California). Among these is Facebook's expansion of its data center campus in in Papillion, Nebraska, on the outskirts of Omaha. Turner is the general contractor. The project entails construction of four new buildings with total square footage of more than 1.6 million square feet to expand regional data-storage capabilities. The project kicked off late year and is expected to take a total of four years to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner is at work on several science-based facilities at U.S. colleges and universities. At Harvard University in Massachusetts, Turner is at work on a grassroot science and engineering complex. The 496,850-square-foot, LEED Gold-certified building will feature 209,000 square feet of dedicated laboratory space. The project also includes renovation of an existing building for interdisciplinary research, as well as construction of a district energy facility. The project, which has an estimated total investment value of $1 billion, began in late 2016 and is expected to be completed in fourth-quarter 2020. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

On the other side of the country, in Seattle, Washington, Turner earlier this year kicked off construction on the Dexter Yard life sciences towers for BioMed Realty Trust Incorporated (Seattle). The project entails constructing and equipping a 14-story building with laboratory space for lease to multiple life-science and technology-related research and development firms. The $250 million project is expected to be completed in early 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

While not nearly as big as the company's footprint in Industrial Manufacturing and Pharma-Biotech, Industrial Info is tracking a few projects involving Turner in the Food & Beverage and Metals & Minerals sectors. In Valhalla, New York, Turner is performing design-build services for PepsiCo Incorporated's (NASDAQ:PEP) (Harrison, New York) renovation of its research and development center. The project includes expanding the existing 108,000-square-foot building and performing interior renovations to house additional research and auxiliary equipment. The project kicked off late last year and is expected to be completed in fourth-quarter 2019. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner also is at work on a couple of projects for HiTest Silicon Incorporated (Edmonton, Alberta) involving mining and processing silica sand. In Golden, British Columbia, Turner will provide subcontracting services on a silica sand open-pit mine. The mined sand will be transported 300 kilometers south by railway to a planned grassroot silicon smelter in Newport, Washington. Construction on the smelter is expected to kick off next year, taking about a year to complete. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the mine and smelter.
