Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN) (San Jose, California), one of the fastest growing Private Energy Producers (PEP) in North America, is selling its 180 megawatt (MW) De Pere Energy Center in De Pere, Wisconsin and Mirant (NYSE: MIR) (Atlanta, Georgia) is selling its 309 MW Neenah Peaking Plant in Neenah, Wisconsin.
De Pere Energy Center was completed in June of 1999. The plant consists of a single simple-cycle combustion turbine/generator. The Energy Center is being purchased by Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (Green Bay, Wisconsin), a subsidiary of WPS Resources Corporation (NYSE: WPS) (Green Bay, Wisconsin), for $120.4 million.
Neenah Peaking Station was completed in May of 2000. The plant consists of two simple-cycle combustion turbine/generator sets. The station is being purchased by Alliant Energy Resources, the unregulated holding company for Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT), for $109 million.
