Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Unit 1 of Guodian Jilin Longhua Thermal Power Company Limited's (Changchun, Jilin) Baicheng thermal power plant expansion project successfully passed the 72- and 24-hour full-load trials and was put into operation under the witness of representatives from the project owner, Jilin Electric Power Design Institute (JEPDI) (Changchun), the project designer and other parties involved in the project on December 12. During the trial operation, various operation indicators remained at sound levels, the JEPDI announced on December 14.
The Baicheng thermal power plant expansion project is a combined heat and power project invested by China Guodian Corporation (Beijing) aimed to improve the environmental quality of Baicheng City through energy conservation and emission reduction. According to the planning, the project will be furnished with two 670 ton-per-hour supercritical coal-fired boilers to support two 210-megawatt (MW) heat supply units, together with flue gas desulfurization, associated heat supply pipelines and space reserved for denitration. Upon completion, the project will supply heat for an area of 6.6 million square meters and 116 tons per hour of steam for its industrial users, replacing three existing 65 ton-per-hour coal-fired boilers built in the initial operations of the power plant.
During the engineering of the project, the JEPDI has carried out nearly 20 optimizations in the layout of the main powerhouse, as well as energy conservation and comprehensive utilization aspects, to reduce the project cost. Through close cooperation with all the parties, the JEPDI provided all design drawings ahead of schedule, which laid a sound foundation for the timely commissioning of the unit.
Construction of the project kicked off in April 2010. Civil engineers from the JEPDI have been dispatched and stationed at the site since June 2010. After that, professional representatives in various specialties, such as mechanical, electrical and control engineering, have been stationed at the site to resolve any problems arising during the construction.
Presently, the pipeline flushing for Unit 2 has been completed, and the unit is ready to begin startup testing. It is expected that the second unit of the project will also be put into operation by the end of this year.
