Unit #6 of the Technical Renovation Project of Datang Lueyang Power Generation Company, Limited (Datang Lueyang) (Shaanxi, China) passed the 168-hour trial operation, and was handed over for commercial operation officially in Northwest China's Shaanxi province on July 23, 2007. The official start of operation of the unit has very important meaning in ensuring the power supply at the South Region of Shaanxi, promoting energy conservation and pollutant discharge reduction, improving local environment, local economic growth as well as the sustainable development of the enterprise.

The Technical Renovation Project of Datang Lueyang received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission on March 25, 2005. The project entails the construction of one 330-megawatt (MW) subcritical coal-fired unit together with a high efficient electrostatic precipitator and limestone-plaster wet flue gas desulfurization system.

The Technical Renovation Project of Datang Lueyang is an important project both in Hanzhong City and Shaanxi Province. The project has received great support from China Datang Corporation and the government of Shaanxi province in various levels since the project was started. Datang Lueyang, together with all the participants, successfully solved a series of problems such as those in site, transportation, lifting, during the construction. From the steam turbine in place, boiler water pressure test, energizing of station service power supply, boiler ignition, unit startup, to the first synchronization, load test and 168-hour trial operation, all key nodes in the entire project were successfully done in the one time. Construction of the project achieved fast progress, optimal cost control and good quality without any safety accident, and was awarded by China Datang Corporation as an example project for power plant built in mountain area.

Datang Lueyang Power Generation Company, Limited is jointly established by Datang Shaanxi Power Generation Company, Limited (82.96%), a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation, and Shaanxi Investment Group Company, Limited (17.04%) on April 28, 2006. Another 330 MW unit is currently under preparation, the company plans to use it to replace the three small units (total 175 MW) currently in operation.
