LNG
Venture Global Says Shell to Buy LNG from Louisiana Plaquemines Plant - U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter Venture Global LNG (Arlington, Virginia) said on Monday that oil and gas major Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL) (London, England) has agreed to buy LNG produced at its proposed Plaquemines LNG export plant in Louisiana. The contract is for 2 million metric tons per year of LNG for 20 years, Venture Global said in a statement. GOVERNMENT
Alberta to Drop Fuel Tax as Prices Mount - Canada's main oil-producing province Alberta will drop its provincial fuel tax to give consumers some relief from soaring energy prices, Premier Jason Kenney said on Monday. The fuel tax waiver, taking effect on April 1, will knock 13 Canadian cents per liter off the price at the pump and remain in place while U.S. crude oil remains more than $90 a barrel. (Reuters)
NATURAL GAS
U.S. Natural Gas Slides on Milder Forecasts - U.S. natural gas futures slid more than 3% on Monday on forecasts for less cold weather and lower heating demand next week than previously expected. That price decline came even though soaring global oil and gas prices kept demand for U.S. LNG exports strong. Front-month gas futures fell 18.3 cents, or 3.6%, to settle at $4.833 per million British thermal units. (Reuters)
