Yokogawa Corporation of America Expands in Texas

Yokogawa Corporation of America (Newman Georgia), a manufacturer of measurement instruments and industrial automation and control systems, is currently underway with construction on a new facility in Sugar Land, Texas.

Representing a $10.5 million investment by the company, a 100,000 square foot plant will be constructed on West Airport Boulevard and Dairy Ashford Road in Sugar Land, Texas, in the Sugar Land Business Park, where the company will relocate existing operations from Stafford. The new facility will employ 175, and will be home to the Industrial Automation business sector of Yokogawa Corporation of America, and several other company operations will be consolidated into this new facility. Groundbreaking occurred in late January of 2005, and building construction began in February. Overall completion is anticipated for September 2005.

Kajima Construction Services (Coppell, Texas) was awarded the engineering and construction contract for the new facility.

Yokogawa Corporation of America is Yokogawa Electric Corporation’s North American Operation. It consists of three businesses, Industrial Automation, Test and Measurement, and Meters and Instruments. Its U.S. headquarters is located in Newnan, Georgia.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation was founded in 1915 in Tokyo Japan. The company’s network consists of 29 manufacturing facilities, 101 affiliate companies, and over 500 sales and engineering offices spanning 29 countries. Japan accounts for nearly 75% of the company’s sales. The company manufactures measurement instruments and industrial automation and control systems. Its customers include oil refineries, power plants, pharmaceutical companies, and manufacturers.
