Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zheneng Group Xinjiang Akesu Energy Development Company Limited's (Aksu, Xinjiang) grassroot, 700-megawatt (MW) Aksu Textile Industrial City Cogeneration Power Station recently received approval from the National Energy Administration of China, according to an announcement from Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group Company Limited (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) on March 31, 2014.
According to the approval, the project will be furnished with two 350-MW, coal-fired, supercritical, direct air-cooling, extraction-condensing steam turbine generating units, together with flue gas desulfurization devices, nitrogen oxide control devices, and high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators for dust control. Total investment in the project will be about $495 million.
The project is invested by Zhejiang Zheneng Electric Power Company Limited (SH.600023) (Zheneng Power) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a listed subsidiary of Zheneng Group. Early in August 2012, the project received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of the Xinjiang autonomous region to kick off pre-stage preparations. Test piling started in January 2013.
In February 2013, Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (NWEPDI) (Xi'an, Shaanxi), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (Beijing), won the engineering and survey contract for the project. The NWEPDI is currently performing preliminary engineering for the project.
The project is ready to kick off soon. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations by the end of 2015. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply 700 tons per hour of steam to the textile industrial city and supply heat for an area of 4 million square meters in Akesu City. As reported, the construction of the project will improve the power source structure in the Aksu region, and promote energy conservation and emission reduction by replacing inefficient coal-fired boilers in its service area.
