Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) has begun testing the thermal equipment in the main powerhouse of the 2,000-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Liuheng Power Plant project, following the activation of the plant service power supply system, according to China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), the parent company of ZTPC. The move signifies the beginning of commissioning for individual units at Unit 1 of Zhejiang Zheneng Sinocoal Zhoushan Coal & Electricity Company Limited's (Zhoushan, Zhejiang) power plant.
ZTPC engineers have begun testing the valves for the boiler water supply and draining system, as well as the steam pipelines for Unit 1.
The Zheneng Liuheng Power Plant, located in Liuheng Town, in the Putuo district of Zhoushan City, in eastern China's Zhejiang province, is the second such facility managed by local enterprises in Zhejiang.
The power plant has a total planned capacity of four 1,000-MW units, with space reserved for further expansion. Two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with flue gas desulfurization, NOx controls and high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators, are part of Phase I, with a total investment of about $1.3 billion. East China Electric Power Design Institute (Shanghai), another subsidiary of the CEEC, is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
Upon the receiving final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in January 2011, construction of the project kicked off in May 2011. However, as the main construction and erection contractor of the project, ZTPC didn't kick off the erection of the boiler main beam until January 2013. In November 2013, the boiler of Unit 1 passed the water pressure test.
So far, the service power supply for Unit 2 of the project has been activated. According to the schedule, Unit 1 of the project will begin commercial operations in September 2014, and the entire project is expected to begin operations in the end of 2014.
