Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the boiler main beam erection for Unit 1 of Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group Company Limited's (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) 2,000-megawatt (MW) Liuheng Coal-Fired Power Project on January 26, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on February 2, 2013.

As reported, there are six main boiler beams with a total weight of about 740 metric tons for Unit 1 of the Liuheng Power Plant. It took just two days for ZTPC to complete the erection of these main boiler beams, a new record in the construction of a 10-gigawatt (GW) unit.

The Liuheng Power Plant, located in Liuheng Town, Putuo District of Zhoushan City of East China's Zhejiang province, is the second 10-GW power plant managed by local enterprises in the Zhejiang province. As the first offshore island coal-fired power plant in China, the power plant has a total planned capacity of four 1,000-MW units, with space reserved for further expansion. Of these, two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units will be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $1.25 billion. East China Electric Power Design Institute (Shanghai), another subsidiary of the CEEC, is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.

Phase I of the Liuheng Power Plant received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in January 2011, and construction of the project kicked off in May 2011. According to the schedule, Unit 1 of the project will begin operations in September 2014, and the entire project is expected to begin operation at the end of 2014.
