Chinese Make Large-Scale Ethylene-Pelleting Machine

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The contract for building the first Chinese-made 200,000-ton mixing, pressing, and pelleting machine for the production of ethylene was awarded to Dalian Rubber and Plastic Machinery Company Limited (SHA:600346) (Dalian, China). Production has already started, and the expected completion date is March 2009.

Ethylene-equipment production is key to China's ethylene industry, and the need exists for a large-scale pelleting machine. Therefore, the production of this machine has been listed as a key project in China's effort to domestically make all of its petrochemical equipment.

Large-scale mixing, pressing, and pelleting machines are the most basic and important equipment in ethylene production and post-treatment. The design and manufacture of these machines require very advanced technology. Currently, only a few developed countries manufacture and install these machines, representing a virtual monopoly of the machine's production and pricing.

Since taking on the task to develop a Chinese-made ethylene-pelleting machine, Dalian Rubber and Plastic Machinery Company has carried out effective preparatory work for the past dozen years and has successfully built 70,000-ton and 100,000-ton mixing, pressing, and pelleting machines. The company has mastered the technology for making the main components of the machine and has enough experience to face the challenge of building large-scale ethylene equipment. The building of this 200,000-ton machine has received close attention from China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (NYSE:SNP) (Sinopec) (Beijing, China). Research for the pelleting machine will be jointly conducted by the Sinopac subsidiary Yanshan Petrochemical Company Limited, the end user of the equipment, Beijing University of Chemical Technology and the Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automation Research Design Institute.
