At the Sam Bertron Power Station in Deer Park, Texas, NRG Texas LLC, a subsidiary of NRG Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey), is planning to repower a unit with a new 689-megawatt integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) unit. In one of the larger Chemical Processing Industry projects, Shell Chemical Company is planning a $30 million turnaround at its Deer Park Petrochemical Plant. The 30-45 day maintenance turnaround is scheduled to begin in October 2009.

With the recent federal stimulus plan, Harris County has accelerated plans to build four light-rail lines to complement the existing line running along Main Street in downtown Houston.
