Industrial Info Research Latinoamérica (Sugar Land, Texas)--Repsol YPF S.A. (Madrid, España) is developing the preliminary engineering for the construction and operation of a regasification terminal and a natural gas pipeline. The undertaking will be built in Escobar, and it will be connected to an offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the nearby margins on the Parana de las Palmas River (Belén de Escobar, Buenos Aires).
The project consists of the installation of a floating storage and regasification unit with a regasification capacity of 300 million to 500 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas, which will be connected to a 30-kilometer, 30-inch-diameter gas pipeline that will have a transmisison capacity of up to 15 million cubic meters per day of natural gas. The gas pipeline will reinforce the already existing 30-kilometer duct in Los Cardales, on the coast of the Paraná River, owned and operated by Transportadora de Gas del Norte S.A. (Buenos Aires).
The new Escobar regasification plant is scheduled to be operational in a year. Repsol YPF will kick off the construction of the project within the next few weeks, and it will demand a total investment of $140 million to $150 million, which is to be invested in equal shares by the petroleum refining company and Enarsa.
