PetroEcuador to Perform Planned Turnaround at Esmeraldas Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--PetroEcuador (Quito, Ecuador), the owner and operator of the 90,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Esmeraldas Refinery, which is in the Esmeralda province in northwestern Ecuador, is planning a 20-day maintenance turnaround on the refinery's utilities area for the third-quarter 2010.

State-owned PetroEcuador, through the National Institute of Public Contracting (Instituto Nacional de Contratacion Publica), will release bidding papers to cover all necessary services needed to accomplish the planned turnaround.

Esmeraldas Refinery will proceed with its boiler maintenance schedule, staring with Unit Boiler Y - B7005 on September 1, 2010; followed by Boiler Y - B7004 on October 1; Boiler Y - B7003 on November 4; and Boiler Y - B7002 on November 24.

PetroEcuador owns and operates three production sites in Ecuador: the Esmeraldas Refinery; the 45,000-BBL/d La Libertad Refinery; and the 20,000-BBL/d Shushufindi Refinery.
