Access Northeast Energy Planning LNG Terminal in Nova Scotia

Access Northeast Energy Incorporated announced plans to build and operate a $600 million Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal

Released Thursday, September 25, 2003

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Access Northeast Energy Incorporated (ANE) (Halifax Nova Scotia) announced plans to build and operate a $600 million Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at Bear Head near Point Tupper in Nova Scotia (PEC 62000203). The proposed development will include marine off loading, LNG storage and re-gasification facilities, which will deliver gas to Eastern Canada, and Northeast U.S. gas markets.

The initial phase of the project activity includes a projected send out capacity of 750 mmcf/d to 1 Billion for Phase I, with a potential expansion of up to 1.25 bcf/d for Phase II by November 2007. The LNG berthing facility will also be designed to receive the world's largest LNG vessels, which includes a jetty located in eight to eleven fathoms water depth. ANE will also offer LNG producers and suppliers LNG loading, storage, vaporization, and send out gas treatment with other commercial services.

The engineering and procurement contract for this project was awarded to Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) who will conduct a feasibility study on the technical and economical viability of the project. The Houston-based KBR has been a premier engineering firm for the past 30 years, and has established itself as the world leader in the design of LNG terminals along with extensive knowledge in state-of-the-art vapor handling systems and tank designs.

The environmental firm of Jacques Whitford Environment Limited (Halifax, Nova Scotia) will provide permitting, approvals and suitability of the site from an environmental prospective.

Access Northeast Energy Incorporated is a private, Canadian energy infrastructure company focused on developing LNG terminals and related facilities in North America.
