SUGAR LAND--October 6, 2015--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Plans by Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE:LNT) (Madison, Wisconsin) to reduce its Power Plant emissions took a step forward this summer after the company reached a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (Washington, D.C.); the Sierra Club (San Francisco, California); Linn County, Iowa; and the state of Iowa. The agreement codifies several recent environmental initiatives by Alliant's Iowa utility, Interstate Power & Light Company (IP&L) (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) as well as commits the utility to install selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions at Unit 1 of its generating station in Ottumwa, Iowa.
