SUGAR LAND--October 18, 2018--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that the increase in the PJM Interconnection's capacity factors for natural gas-fired generators is the largest of any regional transmission organization in the past five years (2013-17). During this time, 14.4 gigawatts (GW) of coal-fired power generation was retired from the PJM, and the regional transmission organization saw a net natural gas increase of 9.2 GW, increasing the region's natural gas-fired capacity by 18%.
