Solvent Deasphalting Gains Significance in Indian Refineries, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Indian refineries have increased their focus on solvent deasphalting units, with about 153,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) to be added by 2024, as an attempt to further enhance profitability by increasing total distillates. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is planning a major 62,000 BBL/d solvent deasphalting unit as part of its Visakhapatnam Refinery Modernization Project, while Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has scheduled a 24,300 BBL/d addition at its Mumbai facility. Privately-owned Nayara Energy Limited will add 51,450 BBL/d at its Vadinar Refinery, and Numaligarh Refinery Limited is planning a 15,200 BBL/d Solvent deasphalting unit at its Numaligarh facility.
