Natural Gas, Solar Among Sources Set to Energize Arizona After Massive Coal Plant Closes

Attachment: Arizona PG 1119

SUGAR LAND--November 20, 2019--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Arizona's Navajo Power Station has turned off its lights after nearly half a century of coal-fired generation. As the largest coal-fired power plant in the western U.S., its closure is another sign of the fossil fuel's rapid capitulation to a changing energy market. Both natural gas and nuclear have edged out coal as a fuel for energy consumed within the state, and renewables are gaining ground. Industrial Info is tracking more than $16 billion in active power-generation projects in Arizona, more than $2 billion of which is attributed to projects under construction.

Within this article: Details on some of the power-generation projects planned for Arizona, including efforts for natural gas, solar and nuclear sources.

Companies featured: Pegasus Group Holdings, Origis Energy USA Incorporated, NextEra Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NEE), Invenergy LLC, Tucson Electric Power Company and Fortis Incorporated (NYSE:FTS).
