Baltimore Bridge Collapse May Dampen U.S. Coal Exports

March 29, 2024--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge on Tuesday temporarily halted all shipping traffic from the Port of Baltimore, which could hinder U.S. coal exports moving forward. According to Census Bureau data cited by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the port is the second-largest hub for coal exports in the U.S., accounting for 28% of total U.S. coal exports in 2023, according to the data.
