Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Natural gas distributor Compagas (Parana, Brazil) will install a pipeline from the city of Ponta Grossa to the city of Castro, in Parana State, Brazil.
Compagas plans to complete the project in two stretches. The first stretch is 23 kilometers (14 miles) and will connect Ponta Grossa to the city of Carambei. Tuper (Parana, Brazil) was selected to provide 8-inch diameter pipe to transport up to 300,000 cubic meters per day of natural gas. Compagas is tendering for bids for a company to install the first stretch of the pipeline project, starting in May.
The first phase of the project will be completed in 22 months.
The second stretch of the project includes a 57-kilometer (35-mile) pipeline connecting Carambei and Castro. Compagas plans to complete the bid tender process for this phase in July, with installation to begin by the end of the year.
Compagas was founded in 1994. With the opening of the Bolivia-Brazil pipeline (Gasbol) in 2000, it became the first gas distributor to provide natural gas in southern Brazil.
Compagas has a distribution network of more than 590 kilometers (366 miles), serving more than 15,000 clients with approximately 1 million cubic meters of gas per day.
