Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Anhui Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company (AEPC2) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the steam turbine box-up for Unit 2 at China Datang Corporation's (Beijing) 1,200-megawatt (MW) Huaibei Hushan Power Project on August 15, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on the same day. The main work on the unit has been completed.

The Datang Huaibei Hushan Power Project is located in Songtuan Town, Lieshan District, in Huaibei City. The project, which is a relocation and expansion of the Datang Huaibei Power Plant, is partly intended to replace units with larger ones. The project is furnished with two 660-MW, supercritical, coal-fired units, together with a high-efficiency electrostatic precipitator (ESP), flue gas desulfurization (FGD), and a nitrogen oxide control device based on selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology.

It also will feature an online continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS), the first unit (Unit 1) of which, contracted by Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), another subsidiary of the CEEC, completed the steam turbine box-up on July 4, 2013.

The project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the top planner of China, on July 18, 2010. Construction on the project (first concrete placement) kicked off in 2012. Steam turbine generator and boilers for the project were supplied by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) and Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan), respectively. According to the schedule, the first unit is expected to begin operations later this year, and both units will be operational in the beginning of 2014.
