Written by Amir Richani for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Peru has awarded Alupar Peru S.A.C. (Lima) a contract to develop four transmission line connections and expansions in the National Electric Interconnected System (SEIN), enhancing the electric grids in Arequipa, Lima, Apurimac and Puno. Included in the 2023-2032 transmission plan, these projects will require a US$214 million investment.
The contracts will span 30 years and encompass the construction, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure for the entire period.
The four projects to be constructed include:
The 2025-2034 transmission plan covers 19 projects to be built before 2030, requiring US$1 billion for new lines, connections and substations.
"There is interest and a willingness to advance mining, as well as oil, gas, gas expansion, electricity generation, transmission and distribution projects. There's a sense that Peru is at its moment, and it's important to take advantage of it now," said Peru's Energy Minister Jorge Montero last week during the Perumin 37 mining convention.
