Axion Resumes Refinery Expansion in Argentina After COVID-19 Suspension, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Axion Energy restarted an expansion at its 85,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Campana refinery in Argentina, after it had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March. The company completed construction on the 43,000-BBL/d gasoil hydrofiner, and the unit began operations on June 3. It had initially been scheduled to begin in April.

An addition to the facility's fuel gas treatment complex is expected to be completed by July 2020, while a 50,000-BBL/d delayed coker unit is scheduled to be operational by October. The revamp works on a 11,000-BBL/d Powerformer, an 85,000-BBL/d Crude (Pipestill) Unit and a 26,000-BBL/d FCCU unit remain on hold, but Axion says it might resume activities on these units in 2021.
