Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Beijing Electric Power Construction Company (BEPC) (Beijing), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), received the notice on bid award from China Shenhua International Engineering Company Limited (Beijing), a tendering agent and a subsidiary of Shenhua Group Company Limited (Beijing), confirming BEPC as the winner of Bid A for the main construction works on the 950-megawatt (MW) Shenhua Beijing Gas-fired Cogeneration Project on August 19, 2013, according to an announcement from the CEEC on August 20.
The Shenhua Beijing Gas-fired Cogeneration Project is located in Jinzhan Xiang, in the Chaoyang district of Beijing. The project involves building a set of "2+1" gas-fired, combined-cycle units with a total generating output of about 950 MW in the initial stage. The scope of Bid A comprises the construction and erection of main works for the entire plant.
As part of Northeast Thermal Power Center (Beijing) and a key heat and power source for the northeast region of Beijing, the project is invested by Beijing Guohua Energy Investment Corporation (Beijing), a subsidiary of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (SH.601088) (Beijing).
The Northeast Thermal Power Center is the fourth regional thermal power center the kick off construction, following the southeast, southwest and northwest thermal power center projects. Early in July 2010, Shenhua Group and Jingneng Group received preliminary approval to kick off pre-stage preparation for the Northeast Thermal Power Center on the northeast side of the planned cyclic economic industrial park in the Chaoyang district. In December 2011 and March 2012, Jingneng's gas-fired cogeneration project and Shenhua Group's gas-fired cogeneration project received approval from the municipal government of Beijing.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held in the Northeast Thermal Power Center on September 28, 2012. According to the schedule, the Northeast Thermal Power Center will begin operations by the end of 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply about 950 MW of power and about 6.58 MW of heat supply capacity, with a total heating area of about 13 million square kilometers.
