Brazil's Adamas SA Reschedules Maintenance Shutdown for Limeira Paper Mill

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Brazilian paper producer Adamas SA Papeis e Papeloes Especiais (Sao Paulo) has changed the annual maintenance shutdown date for the company's mill at Limeira in Sao Paulo state. The spending for the maintenance shutdown is estimated to be $1 million.

The maintenance program of the mill was originally planned to take place this month, but this date was moved to December. Maintenance activities in various areas of the mill will commence on December 22 and will last until January 12, 2011. According to plant's officials, engineering and maintenance departments will oversee the hiring of contractors and suppliers to complete scheduled repairs and equipment replacements. Selection of suppliers and construction contractors to support in-house maintenance staff started in October and will continue through November and early December.

The Limeira paper mill is equipped with a drum debarker and chipper, paper machines, a recovery boiler, a continuous digester, a fueled boiler (oil/bark), electrical generation units, plus primary, secondary, and tertiary effluent treatment systems. Major work will mainly be performed on this equipment.

The Limeira complex was set up in 2007. The facility has a total current annual capacity of 55,000 tons of paper. At present, approximately 200 people work at the plant.
