Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Builder and developer Ryan Companies US Incorporated (Minneapolis, Minnesota) has grown over the years to become one of the leading industrial developers in the U.S. Industrial Info is tracking nearly $3.5 billion worth of projects throughout the U.S in which Ryan is playing a role. The projects cover a range of industrial sectors, including distribution and warehousing, pharmaceutical-biotech facilities, and food and beverage sites.
A quick look through the active projects involving Ryan shows that the company has become a preferred contractor to one of the world's biggest companies: Amazon.com Incorporated (NASDAQ:AMZN) (Seattle, Washington). Industrial Info is tracking 20 Amazon projects throughout the U.S. in which Ryan is acting as general contractor.
Among of the largest of these projects is a grassroot robotics fulfillment and distribution center in Davenport, Iowa. Construction on the five-story, 640,000-square-foot facility kicked off in the summer of 2021, but more than a year into the project, the completion date for the facility was pushed out from 2022 to 2024. Ryan Companies is acting as general contractor. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Industrial Manufacturing Project Database can click here for more details.
Fulfillment center projects involving Ryan Companies that are on track for completion this year include Amazon's Project Cosmeaux, a 3.4 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Shreveport, Louisiana, that will let the company pick, pack and ship smaller items such as books, toys, electronics and other household items. The facility is on track to open this fall. Subscribers can click here for the full report.
More traditional manufacturing projects involving Ryan include a grassroot railcar manufacturing plant for Hitachi Rail STS (Genoa, Italy) in Hagerstown, Maryland. The facility is being developed to support Hitachi Rail's $2.2 billion contract with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) (Washington, D.C.) for railcars. The project, which kicked off late last year, involves constructing a 307,000-square-foot building that initially will allow Hitachi to manufacture 256 new 8000-series railcars for WMATA, then up to 20 railcars per month, ranging from metro to high-speed service cars for use throughout the country. The facility is expected to go into operation in early 2024. Subscribers can learn more by viewing the project report.
Ryan Companies also has found a niche in the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry, which accounts for more than $445 million worth of its projects. In Lafayette, Colorado, Ryan is providing construction management services for Meditronic Incorporated's (Minneapolis) new research and development campus. The project entails constructing and equipping two five-story buildings, totaling approximately 400,000 square feet, to house the company's existing Colorado research centers as well as providing a regional headquarters location. The facility will be about 60% office space and 40% laboratory facilities for Meditronic's surgical, respiratory and gastrointestinal therapeutics groups, among others. The project kicked in mid-2021 and is expected to be completed in the coming months. Other pharma-biotech projects involving Ryan include Oxford Companies LLC's (Ann Arbor, Michigan) genomics research facility in Kansas City, Missouri. The 125,000-square-foot, LEED-certified building will include approximately 60,000 square feet of lab space for one or more life science companies focused on genomics research. Construction kicked off late last year, with Ryan acting as general contractor, and is expected is to wrap up in 2024. Subscribers can click here for the full report.
