Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--As part of the Northwest Thermal Power Center in Beijing, China Datang International Power Company Limited (SHA:601991) (Beijing), the listed flagship of China Datang Corporation's (Beijing) 1,380-megawatt (MW) Gaojing Gas-fired Thermal Power Plant, received final approval from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission on March 29, 2012. The project will be entered into its material implementation stage, according to an announcement from China Datang Corporation on April 1.
Datang Interantional's Gaojing Gas-fired Thermal Power Plant is at the west side of Gaojing Road, covering an area of 8.2 hectares in the Shijingshan District of Beijing City. The project is an important step for Datang International in building its thermal power base around the Bohai Sea by introducing leading international technology. According to the approval, the project will be furnished with three sets of 350-MW, 9FB-type, gas-fired, combined-cycle units, together with two 165-MW waste-heat recovery steam turbine generating units (HRSG) with a total installed capacity of 1,380 MW and a total heat supply capacity of 963 MW, which is capable of supplying heat for an area of 19 million square kilometers. For the three combined-cycle units, two of them will be in "2+1" layout, namely two gas turbines and an HRSG; the other one will be in "1+1" layout, namely a tone gas turbine plus an HRSG. These two units will replace the existing coal-fired units, supply more heat to users in the northwest region of Beijing, and power the local grid.
Presently, the project owner, Datang International, is working closely with North China Power Engineering Company Limited (Beijing), the project designer, and Beijing Guodian Engineering Tendering Company Limited (Beijing), the tendering agent, for the purchasing of equipment and services for the project. According to the schedule, the project will begin operations at the end of 2013.
