Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Datang Jialingjiang Tingzikou Hydro Development Company Limited's (Guangyuan, Sichuan) Fangdiping Windfarm received approval from the Development and Reform Commission of Sichuan province on December 26, 2011. This marks that China Datang Corporation (Beijing) has achieved a breakthrough for its wind power development in Sichuan province, China Datang Corporation announced on December 28.
Datang Fangdiping Windfarm, located in Fangdiping, in the Chaotian district of Guangyuan city, is the first mountain windfarm to be built in the Sichuan province and the first windfarm to be developed by Tingzikou Hydro in response to China Datang Corporation's strategic plan to "shift the means of growth, adjust the economic structure and strengthen the development mechanism."
According to the approval, the windfarm will be furnished with 20 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.5 megawatts (MW) along with a 110-kilovolt substation, requiring a total investment of about $47 million. Construction of the project is expected to kick off in the beginning of the second quarter of 2012, and all of the turbines will be put into operation by the end of 2012. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply about 55 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the grid, with approximately 1,850 utilization hours, which will not only further meet the local demand on power consumption, but also will improve the local energy structure and actively contribute to the industrial development plan of China Datang Corporation during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15).
Guanyuan City, located in the north edge of the Sichuan Basin, the south of Qinling Mountain Ranges and the exit of Jialingjiang River mount, is a well known for its wind resources. Experts estimated that the city has a total wind power development potential of about 300 MW. Construction of the project will set an example for distributed development of windfarm project in the mountain area of Sichuan province.
