China Huadian Recieves Approval for its First Gas-fired Cogeneration Project in Shenzhen

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Huadian International Power Company Limited (Beijing) (SH.600027), a subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation (Beijing), received the approval notice of social investment projects issued by the Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipal Government for the Shenzhen Pingshan Natural Gas Distributed Energy Station, on September 10, 2013. This is the first regional distributed energy project to receive approval in Shenzhen. On September 12, China Huadian Corporation announced that Shenzen Pingshan will be its first gas-fired cogeneration project in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

The project is located in the national bio-pharmaceutics industry base, east of the Pingshan New District of Shenzhen City. The base is a part of the low-carbon economic development corridor. The project occupies a total area of 7.5 hectares.

According to the approval, the project will be built with three 6FA-level, gas-fired, combined-cycle units with a total installed capacity of 391 megawatts (MW), including two sets of 100-MW, 6FA-level combustion turbines, with two 110-ton-per-hour heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) and one 74.9-MW condensing steam turbine generator in multi-shaft layout. The third 100-MW, 6FA-level combustion turbine will have one 110-ton-per-hour HRSG and one 16.05-MW backpressure steam turbine generator. Total investment in the project will be about $285 million.

With associated heat supply pipeline works, the project will be able to generate about 1.89 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and about 4.32 million gigajoules of heat to local users every year. Annual average heat efficiency of the project will reach 75.8% and the annual average heat-to-power ratio will reach 63.6%. With the national bio-pharmaceutics industry base in Pingshan New District as its core service area, the project will be able to supply heat/cold and power to users in a 60-square-kilometer area.
