China Resources Invests in Cement Projects in Guangxi

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Resources Cement Holdings Limited (Hong Kong) signed an agreement on January 10, 2008, with the government of Giangxi County to build two cement production lines. According to the pact, China Resources will build two 4,500-ton-per-day dry cement production lines in which the Hong Kong investor will cast $178.1 million.

The production lines will be in Si'an Village of Wuxuan County, occupying 66.7 hectares. Reports state the construction will last two years, divided into two phases. It is not clear when construction will begin.

China Resources has been active recently in southern China. In late December, the company finished a 4,000-ton-per-day dry cement production line in Nanning City of Guangxi and started to build a second production line. The two lines, to be finished in late 2008, will increase China Resources' capacity by 3.3 million tons of clinker and 4 million tons of cement a year.

The Nanning lines, costing $185 million, are equipped with two 7.5-megawatt low-temperature waste heat generating units, generating 114 million kilowatt-hours every year and saving 49,000 tons of standard coal.

On December 29, 2008, China Resources signed an agreement with the local government to build two 4,500-ton-per-day cement production lines in Guiping City of Guangxi. On the same day in Fengkai City of Guangdong Province, China Resources began constructing a factory with six 1.2 million-ton-per-annum production lines, related waste heat generating units and ports. Phase I of the project includes two production lines, costing $205.5 million.

China Resources now has nearly 10 cement factories in southern China's Guangxi Province, Guangdong Province and Hong Kong, with total annual capacity over 140 million tons.
