Based on the intermediate result on ensuring emergency power supply for each county during the Chinese New Year, China Southern Power Grid Corporation (Guangzhou, China) has shifted its focus on reconstruction after the disaster beginning February 7, 2008. China Southern Power Grid has worked out an overall objective for the reconstruction: resume power supply for the disaster area by March 5; resume all major passages for transmitting power from the west to the east by the end of April; resume all grids by the end of May. For breakdown in each province (region), Guangxi Grid shall resume full power supply by March 20; Yunnan Grid and Guangdong grid shall try to resume earlier; Guizhou Grid shall resume power supply in damaged 110 kilovolts (KV) and 220 KV grids to the level of the same period in the previous year by March 5 to meet the power demand of the province; resume the operation of 500 KV grid and part of the passages for transmitting power from the west to the east by 20 April; and resume the full operation of 500 KV grid as well as all passages for transmitting power from the west to the east by 20 May.
Currently, China Southern Power Grid has over 46,000 personnel in a rush to repair damaged power facilities. Of which, over18,500 workers of Guizhou Grid are working on the frontier in fighting against the disaster, plus 2,500 support workers from Guangdong, Yunnan and Guangxi, totally over 21,000 workers have participated into the reconstruction of Guizhou Grid after the disaster, and another 3,000 technicians are rushing to Guizhou; the Ultra High Voltage Transmission Company has concentrated over 1,300 workers repairing the Guizhou-Guangdong power transmission passages for transmitting power from the west to the east; Guangdong Grid has nearly 5,000 workers in rush repairing damaged grid facilities in Shaoguan and Qingyuan areas; Guangxi Grid has 11,498 persons, including 6,011 from the local government and the army, in rush to deal with the emergency; over 4,100 persons in Yunnan Grid are progressing smoothly in rush repairing damaged facilities in Zhaotong area.
We have sufficient conditions to resume all damaged transmission lines by the end of March through scientific arrangement and careful organization, said Yuan Maozhen, chairman of China Southern Power Grid Corporation.
