China's Consumer Price Index Maintains Steady Increase in September
In September, the retail price of commodities increased 64.9% year over year. The ex-work price of industry rose 2.7%, and the price of raw materials, fuel and power procurement rose 3.6%.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In September, the consumer price index (CPI) in China rose 6.2% compared with the same period last year, or 0.3 percentage points lower than the value in August, the National Bureau of Statistics of China announced on October 25, 2007.
From January to September, the average CPI rose 4.1% year over year:
2.2% is attributed to price increases.
1.9% is attributed to price tendency.
Also, the food prices increased 10.6% year over year - the biggest price increase:
The price of grain rose 6.3%.
The price of eggs rose 26.2%.
Meat, poultry and related products rose 29.1%
Seafood prices rose 4.6%
Fresh vegetable prices increased 3%
The price of fresh fruits dropped 3.3%.
Other consumer products:
Tobacco and liquor: 1.7% increase
Clothing: 0.3% decrease
Household facilities and maintenance: 2% increase
Health care and other personal items: 1.8% increase
Transportation and communication: 0.7% decrease
Recreational, educational and cultural items: 1.1% decrease
In September, the retail price of commodities increased 64.9% year over year. The ex-work price of industry rose 2.7%, and the price of raw materials, fuel and power procurement rose 3.6%. The ex-work price of industry rose 2.7%, and the price of raw materials, fuel and power procurement rose 3.8%.
In addition, from January to September, the total social retail value of consumer goods rose 15.9% year over year (the growth in September reached 17%), which is 2.4 percentage points higher compared with the same period of the previous year. By region, the value of urban areas rose 16.3% year over year; the value of the county and the lower level rose 14.9% year over year. By sectors, the growth in wholesale and retail, accommodation, food and beverage sectors rose 15.8% and 18.2%, respectively, and growth in other sectors rose 4.6% year over year.
