CITGO Shuts Down FCCU for Maintenance Turnaround in Lake Charles

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--CITGO Petroleum Corporation (Houston, Texas), a wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) (Caracas, Venezuela), has shut down the 50,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit B (Cat B) and the 13,000-BBL/d Sulfuric Acid Alkylation Unit B (SF Alky unit) at the company's 430,000-BBL/d refinery in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The planned turnaround began January 8. During the turnaround, the company will perform tie-ins for a $10 million capital upgrade to the Cat B, which is expected to be back online by February 6.
CITGO is a refiner and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, refined waxes, asphalt and other industrial products. The company has three refineries: the 440,000-BBL/d Lake Charles Refinery; the 157,000-BBL/d Corpus Christi Refinery; and the 159,000-BBL/d Lemont Refinery. The CITGO refineries produce a wide range of gasoline to meet consumer demands. The locations produce 117 million barrels of gasoline, 61 million barrels of distillates and 25 million barrels of jet fuel per year.
