Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Fuqing Nuclear Power Company Limited (Fuqing, Fujian), a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) (Beijing), completed the powerhouse crane load tests for units 1 and 2 of the Fuqing nuclear power project, CNNC announced on April 1, 2011.
As reported, the rated load test under the combined operation of the erection dolly and the operating dolly for the 1RX ring crane was completed on March 20. The 1RX ring crane has completed all related tests, including a no-load test, a light-load test, a static-load test and a rated-load test, and is ready to carry out various kinds of handling operations within the reactor powerhouse. "The successful completion of the load test allows for the installation of main equipment Nuclear Island 1 of the Fuqing Project," said CNNC in its announcement.
This ring crane furnished in the reactor powerhouse consists of six circular support beams with guide rails, four rotating brackets, two end beams, two main beams, an operating dolly, an erection dolly (shared by units 1 and 2) and various accessories. It is the largest hoisting equipment inside the nuclear island and will be used primarily for the erection of large equipment, such as the pressure vessel, steam generator and main pumps inside the nuclear island.
The Fuqing nuclear power project is located at Qianxue village, Sanshan Town, in Fuqing City, on the coast of the Fujian province. The project has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt nuclear reactors, requiring a total investment of nearly $14 billion. The project will be built in phases, using second-generation of pressurized water reactor technology.
Construction of the Phase I officially started on November 21, 2008. To date, the dome of Unit 1 has been completed and equipment erection for the nuclear island has begun. It's expected that Unit 1 will begin operations in November 2013.
