Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Construction of Huaneng Nanjing Jinling Power Generation Company Limited's (Nanjing, Jiangsu) Jinling gas-fired cogeneration power project recently began in Xixia Economic and Technology Development Zone, Nanjing City.
The project is jointly invested by Huaneng International Power Company Limited (SHA:600011) (Beijing) (51%), PetroChina Kunlun Gas Company Limited (Shenzhen) (21%), Jiangsu Guoxin Assets Management Group Company Limited (Nanjing) (21%) and Nanjing Municipal Investment Company (Nanjing) (7%). According to the approval, the project will be furnished with two 200-megawatt (MW), gas-fired, combined-cycle units, with associated heat supply pipeline works. Total investment in the project will be about $240 million.
The project received final approval in July 2011. In November 2011, the engineering contract was awarded to Hebei Electric Power Survey & Design Research Institute (Shijiazhuang, Hebei). The general contract for the supply of equipment required for the project was awarded to Nanjing Turbine & Electric Machinery Group Company Limited (Nanjing) in November 2011. The project is expected to begin full operations in the first half of 2013.
Upon completion, the project will be able to generate about 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid and supply about 2.68 million gigajoules of heat to its users. Calculated by the average coal consumption of coal-fired units for power generation, as well as the standard coal consumption for heat supply in Jiangsu, the project could save about 180,000 metric tons of standard coal every year. The project uses natural gas transmitted from the nation's eastbound gas transmission pipeline as its fuel, which is of low-pollutant emission. Through centralized heat supply, the project also could replace these small, coal-fired boilers scattered in its service area, which could improve the environment quality in Nanjing City.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the kickoff ceremony were Ji Jianye, the major of Nanjing City, and Luo Qun, the vice mayor, according to an announcement from China Huaneng Group (Beijing) on January 5, 2012.
