Other data center projects involving Whiting-Turner include Corporate Office Properties Trust's (Columbia, Maryland) grassroot data center in Sterling, Kentucky, which entails constructing a 211,800-square-foot data hall with supporting equipment and systems to provide regional data storage facilities and support. Construction kicked off last summer and is expected to last about a year. The project could be followed by a Phase II expansion, which would kick off this summer. Whiting-Turner is constructing a grassroot air services hub for the company in Hebron, Kentucky, near the Ohio border and close to Cincinnati. The facility is being constructed on a 920-acre site and will include a 3 million-square-foot building featuring a 350,000-square-foot loading dock, more than 100 aircraft parking spaces, and equipment and systems to handle more than 200 aircraft takeoffs and landings per day. Construction began in the first half of last year and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021.
