Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Fitesa Fiberweb Simpsonville Incorporated (Simpsonville, South Carolina), a joint venture of Fiberweb plc (LSE:FWEB) (London, England) and Fitesa (Gravatai, Brazil), has started the demolition of a building for a planned $100 million nonwoven fabric manufacturing plant to be constructed in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
O'Neal Incorporated (Greenville, South Carolina) was selected to provide general construction services for the new plant.
Fitesa, a subsidiary of Petropar SA, is a Brazilian fabric manufacturer that is considered to be one of the largest polypropylene nonwoven producers in the world. In 2008, Fitesa announced plans to construct a $120 million plant in the Owings Industrial Park in Laurens County, South Carolina, but canceled the plans because of financing problems. The company decided to partner with Fiberweb, which has operated a non-woven's manufacturing plant in Simpsonville for more than 20 years. The joint venture includes manufacturing plants in Mexico, Brazil and the state of Washington.
Fiberweb, a public company founded in 1989, is considered to be one of the world's largest and leading suppliers of high-performance, specialty nonwoven fabrics used in water filters, blood filters, industrial wipes, baby diapers, panty liners, fabric softener sheets, construction products, and protective clothing.
