East Coast Ethanol Says Georgia Plant on Track to be First of Four Plants Built

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held ethanol start-up East Coast Ethanol LLC (Columbia, South Carolina) says, pending funding approvals, the company's Georgia ethanol plant is expected to be the first of four plants to be built. Funding for the Jessup, Georgia, plant is expected in a few months and construction could get under way later this year.

The plans call for development on an 890-acre industrial park development 14 miles southeast of Jessup on Highway 341. The plant will produce 110 million gallons per year of ethanol from more than 40 million bushels of locally grown corn. The estimated $216 million plant will also generate 353,000 tons of dried distillers grains per year.

Construction of the plant, which will utilize ethanol plant builder Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota), is expected to take 18 months to complete and could be operational as early as the spring of 2011.

A facility in Campbellton, Florida, is expected to be the second plant to be built and, pending funding approval, could begin turning dirt in early 2010. Additional plants are to be constructed in Seaboard, South Carolina, and Chester, North Carolina.

Once all four 110 million-gallon-per-year plants are online, East Coast Ethanol will have the capacity of producing 440 million gallons of fuel ethanol annually.
