Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Córdoba, Argentina)--EP Petroecuador Gerencia de Transporte y Almacenamiento (Guayaquil, Ecuador) (Hydrocarbons Public Company) is calling for bids on the Pascuales-to-Cuenca pipeline project.
EP Petroecuador Gerencia de Transporte y Almacenamiento expects to select an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm to handle the entire project. Although Caminosca (Quito) has been in charge of developing the engineering, the selected EPC firm will have to review the detailed engineering in order to proceed with the procurement and construction phases.
The project includes the construction of a 210-kilometer gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline with a diameter that will vary between 8 and 10 inches. It will connect two new storage terminals, called La Troncal and Cuenca, which will feature tanks and spheres. It also involves the construction of four pump stations along the line.
According to project managers, construction is expected to last 150 days. Each terminal will be ready in 600 days, and pump stations should be installed in 60 to 70 days.
The bidding phase is expected to be completed by August 2013 so as to begin construction in the first quarter of 2014.
The purpose of this project is to supply the high demand for fuel, mainly in the cities of Cuanca, Machala, Loja and Zamora.
