Global Pharma Expo: CPhI Awards 2015 Category Winners Announced in Barcelona

Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The annual CPhI Worldwide Pharma Expo was held in Barcelona, Spain, on October 13-15, 2015, drawing an estimated crowd of more than 30,000 life science professionals from more than 150 countries. The conference exhibition covered key industry sectors and featured 2,500 exhibitors, showcasing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), excipients, finished dosage, contract services, packaging, machinery and more. Truly global in nature, the event brings together suppliers from major markets including the U.S., Europe and India, as well as those from emerging markets including Turkey, Russia and Malaysia.

Each year, CPhI awards winners in a number of categories, across the entire pharmaceutical supply chain. There were seven award winners, drawn from 70 applicants. After a final presentation from each of the 16 finalists, the winners were announced.

The winning companies and respective award categories are:

• Best Innovation in Supply Chain & Logistic Management:

• Best Innovation in Manufacturing Technology:
  Harro Hoefliger (Baden-Württemberg, Germany)
• Best Innovation in Packaging:
  Sulzer (Winterthur, Switzerland)
• Best Innovation in APIs and Excipients:
  OMYA International AG (Oftringen Switzerland)
• Excellence in Partnering & Outsourcing:
  Centroflora CMS (Luxembourg, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg)
• Best Innovation in Process and Formulation Development:
  Catalent (Somerset, New Jersey)
• CEO of the Year:
  Vivek Sharma, CEO -- Piramal Enterprises Limited-Pharma (Mumbai, India)

Separately, CPhI Worldwide also presented a special "Sustainable Stand Award" to Novo Nordisk, Pharmatech and Novozymes for the most sustainable exhibition stand. All elements of the shared booth, were reusable, and built out of modular systems with almost no waste.

Next year's CPhl Global Pharma Expo will again be held in Barcelona, October 4-6, 2016.
