Louisiana Integrated PolyEthylene JV, a joint venture between Sasol and LyondellBasell, unexpectedly shut down its new 3.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit in Lake Charles, Louisiana, around June 14, for undisclosed reasons. The unit restarted on June 20.

Formosa Plastics partially restarted its 2.6 billion-pound-per-year Olefins 3 unit on June 18 in Point Comfort, Texas, after taking it offline on June 4 due to a loss of feed supply from a third party.

Dow Chemical restarted the 1.65 billion-pound-per-year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit on June 19 at its Freeport (Oyster Creek), Texas, plant after shutting it down on May 15 for planned maintenance.

International
Lotte Chemical Corporation restarted the 2.4 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit on June 21 at its Seosan Daesan Chemicals Plant in South Korea. However, Lotte Chemical curtailed production on the unit by 40% on June 22 due to an issue with a tower. Expectations are to complete repairs and resume normal operations by June 26.

Gail India Limited remains on schedule to begin a 13-day maintenance turnaround of the 992 million-pound-per-year Ethylene Unit 1 on September 24 at its Auraiya (Pata) Complex in India. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by October 6.

Angarsky Zavod Polymerov OAO continues with a planned turnaround of the 143 million-pound-per-year, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) unit, which began June 23 at its Angarsk, Russia, chemical complex. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the unit by July 30.
