Industrial Info Australia Grows Project Coverage

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Perth, Australia)--While most of the Australian media has been focusing on the slowdown of the Australian economy as a whole--and more specifically the slowdown in the mining and oil & gas sectors--Industrial Info continues to increase project coverage in the Oceania region. Over the past 12 months, Industrial Info has added 615 new project reports to its Global Industrial Project Database across all industry verticals, which is almost 300 projects more than were entered during the preceding 12 months. As would be expected, almost 50% of the newly added projects fall into the Metals & Minerals Industry, which includes mining. New projects added in the Power Industry account for nearly 30% of the new project total, with Oil & Gas projects accounting for the majority of the remaining 20%.

While early-stage capital projects still account for more than half of all new projects entered over the past year, the number of project reports related to in-plant maintenance, including major shutdowns, outages and maintenance programs, has increased dramatically and accounted for just more than 30% of all new project reports.

Industrial Info is tracking more than 230 active projects relating to maintenance across the Oceania region, including shutdowns, outages and turnarounds at major production facilities. The Power Industry currently accounts for the largest portion of maintenance activity coverage in Oceania, with 94 currently active project reports available worth a total of AUD$664 million. Accounting for another large proportion of the maintenance activity coverage is the Metals & Minerals Industry with 84 active project reports with a total value of AUD$353 million.

Many of the major industrial sectors in the Oceania region may currently be coming off the boil and experiencing a significant slowdown, especially when it comes to large-scale greenfield capital projects. But plenty of opportunities remain in the maintenance and in-plant capital fields for companies willing to look into these areas. Industrial Info expects to see continued growth in these areas over the next 12 months and will continue to seek out these opportunities for its clients.
